Kanbejō Taiko-yagura / Rengeji (Higashi-Tamagaki, Suzuka, Mie) 神戸城移築二ノ丸太鼓櫓・蓮華寺太鼓楼 [三重県鈴鹿市東玉垣町]

This drum tower located at Rengeji, a temple in the Tamagaki area of Suzuka Municipality, was originally used at Kanbe Castle. The taiko-yagura (drum turret) was located in the castle's second bailey, but was relocated to Rengenji following the castle's decommission in the early Meiji period. The drum tower has dark wood panelling on its ground floor, and open lattices on its upper floor. The yagura is topped by an impressive roof with shachihoko (tiger-headed fish gargoyles), so that we know it was a castle building.

Kanbejō: Relocated Ôtemon (Yokkaichi, Mie) 神戸城三ノ丸大手門・頸正寺山門 [三重県四日市市]

Ôtemon means 'main gate'. The main gate of the third bailey of Kanbe Castle was relocated to Keishōji, a temple in the Nishi-Hino neighbourhood of urban Yokkaichi Municipality. An old drawing shows this gate with a bridge spanning a moat leading to it, and connected by a parapet wall to a corner turret. The ôtemon was orientated to the north of the bailey. The surviving gate is a tall kōraimon-style gate; it now serves as the sanmon (main gate) at Keishōji. The tall wings and doors are impressive.

細川氏江戸屋敷茶房邸 [三重県鈴鹿市]

Ryōkōji, a temple neighbouring the castle, contains the Sabōtei, a tea pavilion which was originally part of the Edo residence of the Hosokawa Clan, the lords of Kumamoto Castle, but was gifted to Honda Tadamune, the lord of Kanbejō and a junior councillor in the bakufu government, and ultimately relocated to its present location. Unfortunately the Sabōtei is not open to the general public, though tea ceremonies are occassionally held there.
