There isn't much to see here, but visiting these forts are part of the experience for visiting Odaka Castle. Should be visited with Odaka Castle and Washizu Fort. See these other pages for more details.

History

Marune Fort was one of several forts built around Odaka Castle to contain the Imagawa. In particular it blocks the road to Kutsukake Castle. Matsudaira Motoyasu (Tokugawa Ieyasu) defeated Marune Fort and Washizu Fort with overwhelming forces at the Battle of Okehazama. Some people say Motoyasu first came to prominence as a battle tactician because of this battle.
