Fukuōji-yakata is now basically a temple but I was able to find remnants of what looked like dorui (earthen embankments) here, particularly near the shōrō (belfry) and behind the hondō (main hall).

History

Fukuōji-yakata was a fortified manor house of the Kanbayashi Clan. The Kanbayashi would go on to serve Tokugawa Ieyasu. The night before (the Battle of) Sekigahara, according to, I assume, clan legend, members of the Clan were part of the doomed garrison at Fushimijō who defended it until the death. At some point the land was taken over by the temple Fukuōji.

Field Notes

Fukuōji-yakata is now basically a temple but I was able to find remnants of what looked like dorui (earthen embankments) here, particularly near the shōrō (belfry) and behind the hondō (main hall).
