History

Ichibanjin’yamajō was a branch fortification of Ohharajō used by the Ohhara Clan. For more information see Ohhara Castle. In modern times a rail line was constructed through the site and the area has since been converted into residential plots. In the Edo period it was a compound of the Kōka-gumi.

Field Notes

If it wasn't for this site's extreme proximity to Hodarakujijō, I wouldn't have bothered even trying to find any trace of it. The website I was relying on to guide me to the remains of Ichibajin'yamajō proved out of date, as now it has been built over with modern family homes. I was able to find what might have been the dying ghost of dorui (embankment), now replete with choking bamboo, but that was all.
