Given this history it does seem plausible that this was the castle of those Mochizuki, but there isn't actually any historic evidence linking the Mochizuki to this specific castle.
It was one of the key castles controlling the route into Iga along with Sugitani Castle.

Mochizuki Castle is one of the largest of the Koka Castles and generally considered to be the most complex and well developed in terms of design. The main bailey is 65m x 62m with embankments measuring 8.75m wide at the base and about 6m in height.

History

The Mochizuki clan were one of more senior of the 53 Koka clans.

We generally attribute Mochizuki Castle to the well known Mochizuki clan of Koka who aided Rokkaku Yoshikata and his son Yoshiharu when they fled Nobunaga's attacks on Kannonij Castle in 1568.
