History

The history of this castle is not clear. It may have been a castle of a Mochizuki branch family. Along with Mochizuki Castle and Shingu Castle, Murasame Castle is one of the more well developed castles in terms of size and design including a small masugata style box entrance. These castles may have helped to hide Rokkaku Yoshikata when he fled Nobunaga. See Koka Castles for more details.
