Each of these stones has at least one kokuin (刻印) or quary mark carved into it. If you look at the photo above you can see the string of stones on the right, the long narrow pond on the left, and on the other side of the pond is a high stone wall. I think this was designed as a tribute to the outer moat which was filled in for this Sotobori Road.
