Field Notes
Iwazu-Kibarajō is one of many fortification sites which were part of a network of fortifications protecting Iwazu Castle. Iwazu-Kibarajō has the saddest remnant of a castle site I’ve ever seen. A sole slice of dorui (earthen ramparts) survives wedged between two houses. Still, though, I am grateful for even that, as the site has been developed over with Okazaki’s northern suburban sprawl.
