Higuchiuchijō is now fields, and much of the site has been ploughed through by an expressway. However, the terracing to the east of the highway is redolent of a hillside fort.

History
Higuchiuchijō was a Sengoku period fort built from terracing the hillside. It was likely built by Ina forces as a satellite fortification of Kōjin’yamajō around 1544 in order to oppose Takeda Shingen’s invasion of Ina (some say it could’ve been built by Takeda forces to besiege Kōjin’yamajō, but it is very close to the Kōjin’yama castle mount and much lower situated, which seems to me like a dangerous place to build a besieging fort). In later times the fort’s earthworks were converted into tillable fields and lost much of their shape.
