Tomonoura, an historic town along the coats, is also just a 30 min bus ride away and you can find the relocated East Gate Nagayamon from Fukuyama Castle. Tomonoura, an historic town along the coats, is also just a 30 min bus ride away and you can find the relocated East Gate Nagayamon from Fukuyama Castle. This Nagayamon had guard houses on both sides. It was called the "East Gate" of the sannomaru bailey in records but the Sannomaru East Gate of Fukuyama was a large Yaguramon as part of a masugata complex. It may have actually been a gate to the palace near the east side sannnomaru instead. Either way you can see that it was a huge nagayamon gate more fitting to a castle or palace than the nagayamon of a samurai home.
