Tsuyama Castle - Relocated Gates
There are four relocated or likely relocated gates that I found. One was a little far out to reach on this visit with so much else to do but maybe on a future visit.
Ohsumi Jinja - Sanmon Gate - The gate was moved several times before ending up here.
Jodoji - Sanmon - The gate was moved from the castle to stand as the gate to the Hancho following the Meiji Restoration and then was the gate for the original Hojo Prefecture office when the prefecture system was started. It was moved to this temple in 1906. There is no evidence fully supporting that this was a castle gate but given the facts that the Hancho was on the castle grounds (near the main entrance), it was there soon after the Hancho was established, and Tsuyama Castle had many gates, it seems very likely that this was from the castle.
Hongenji Temple - Soumon - Claims to be from the castle but no evidence. The gate was recently restored. In the pictures, you can see where some newer wood replaced old damaged wood.
Nakayama Jinja - Most well known gate to be relocated from the castle, Yotsuashimon Gate. No photos (yet), it was a bit too far north of the city to get to on this trip.
