History
Kadonejō was built by Hori Jirōzaemon in 1472 at the time the Hori Clan was attacked by Imai Hidetô. In the Asai Sandaiki it is related that Hori Yorisada defended Kadonejō with the Higuchi Clan of nearby Higuchijō in 1518. Hori Yorisada’s son was Hori Motozumi, and his son was Hori Hidemura. There is a theory that the castle was used as a barrier or checkpoint along an important road.
