History

The Miyachi-yashiki was an Edo period yashiki, constructed in 1603, used to house the officiates and caretakers of Inugashira-jinja, a shrine located to the south. The yashiki was abandoned sometime during the Bakumatsu period. Honda Shigetsugu was born in the area in 1529.

To the south is the ‘Dog’s Head Shrine’, a related historical site. The shrine has a stele commemorating it as the birthplace of Honda Shigetsugu (1529-1596).

Note: this site is Miyachi-yashiki in historical Nukata County, not to be confused with Miyachifuru Yashiki in historical Hekikai County, both in Mikawa Province / Aichi Prefecture.
