History

After Hideyoshi abandoned Tenjinyama Fort for being too exposed to the Shibata forts, he built his new defensive line on this ridge anchored at Shinmeiyama Fort. Dogiyama Fort is on the speartip of the ridge facing the Hokkoku Kaido. Even further up the ridge from Shinmeiyama Fort was another Shigeyama Fort created by Maeda Toshiie to prevent forces from this line attacking Sakuma from behind.
