|History=Ueshi Castle was first constructed in 1386 by Nanjo Sadamune. The castle was frequently involved in battles with Amago Province and the Mori Clan over control of the Hoki Province. The Nanjo sided with Nobunaga in his attack on the Hoki Province but were ousted when they lost at the Battle of Sekigahara. The castle was abandoned at that time. Even though little remains from the original castle, it was a fairly extensive mountaintop castle with many baileys. The foundations of watchtowers have also been discovered.
