Description | A view of the Nishinomaru bailey from atop the tenshu. These several yagura and connecting yagura were the living quarters for the maidservants of Princess Sen, the granddaughter of Tokugawa Ieyasu. The nearer rectangular yagura on the end that turns into the bailey is called the Kesho Yagura (Cosmetic Tower). It is where Princess Sen supposedly prepared herself to worship her shrine which could be seen from one of these connected yagura. |
