History

Misonokojō was the seat of Lord Rinshikibu (林式部*) (of Hayashi Clan?), who was a vassal of the Inabe Clan (later Kasuga Clan) in the 1530s. Built alongside an important highway in the valley, the castle was later taken over by the Mikoshi Clan (御子柴氏) who fought under Kyōgoku Takatomo, Lord of Iidajō, at the Battle of Sekigahara. Misonokojō was likely abandoned thereafter. In modern times earth has been moved, altering the profile of the castle ruin.

I was able to get off a few pictures before my camera battery finally died, and by that time it had already gotten too dark. It was now past 6pm and time to go back to my hotel. I allowed myself a bit of a lie-in the next morning and, due to awkward time trains, decided to visit more local sites in Ina, and I ended up walking by Misonokojō again so I took some new pictures for daytime. There's only really the one large mound to see so this only took about ten minutes.
