History
Nakakaido-yakata was the fortified residence of a local clan, perhaps the Uno Clan, and possibly functioned as the kyokan for Koikejō, a yamajiro to the east (mountaintop castles were often paired with fortified residences on plains, serving as redoubts to retreat to in times of siege or conflict). It had an annex to the north, the kita-yashiki, and stores for the township of Kitariku-gō were located here. It is thought that a village was built up around the yakata.
