|History=Beffujō is speculated to be a branch fortification of Ohharajō to monitor downstream traffic. It is also said to have a been a fortified manor hall in the Heian period. I suppose it could've been both, acting as a small fort or outpost in the Sengoku period. The Ohhara served the Rokkaku but were expelled from the area during the Shaking of Kōka (1585).
