No ruins remain of the Bizen-date, a fortified manor hall site which predated the much more notable Maruokajō, and the site is now fields and a shrine. I swung by here because it was so close to Maruoka Castle.
History
Bizen-date (Dewa Province) was constructed by the Oshikiri Clan in the 15th century. The Oshikiri were vassals of the Daihōji Clan. Bizen- date, whose lord held the honourific title ‘Protector of Bizen (Province)’, predated nearby Maruokajō, and was abandoned in 1513 when the Oshikiri relocated to Yokoyamajō.
Field Notes
No ruins remain of the Bizen-date, a fortified manor hall site which predated the much more notable Maruokajō, and the site is now fields and a shrine. I swung by here because it was so close to Maruoka Castle.
