There is more ruins than you may expect to see from these photos or descriptions. It is well worth visit if you are nearby especially if you combine it with a stop at Moriya Castle.

History

Takai Castle was one of the smaller castles in the network of fortifications around Moriya Castle. The Takai clan were the lords of this castle. They are likely Soma clan members who took their name from the name of the district. The castle was likely abandoned after the Hojo and their allies (including the Soma at Moriya Castle and Takai Castle) were defeated.
