Imai Kanehira | |Notes=Nishitoyama-station is 1 station away from Toyama-station. On getting out of the station go right and right on the next road to get over the railroad tracks. Go straight ahead until you reach the foot of the hill. Take left and follow the steepest road until you reach the top. There go under the bridge and the site begins on the left. The site makes part of a walking trail. When you reach the second parking on the westside of the castle, this is the end. The site is overgrown, but there are posts in Japanese which indicates where you are standing. There are alot of baileys left and it is easy to imagine this site as a castle. | ||

|History=The castle appears for the first time in 1183 by record of Imai Kanehira, a general of Minamoto no Yoshinaka. During the Sengoku period, Jinbo enhanced the castle defenses against Uesugi Kenshin. In 1572, the Jinbo were derated by Uesugi Kenshin and the castle came under his control. After the death of Kenshin, it became a support castle of Toyama Castle. When Hideyoshi attacked Sassa, Oda Nobukatsu stationed his main force at this castle. After Sassa Narimasa was defeated, Maeda Toshiie ruled this castle. Current structures of this castle were built by Toshiie. The castle was abandoned in the early 1600s. | |||
