I came to the (former) site of Nakazawajō as part of my afternoon castle walk in Nagano City on the way from Minochi Hirabayashi Castle to Kurita Castle. No ruins remain.
History
Nakazawa Castle appears on old maps and once possessed dorui (earthen ramparts) and a moat. The moat measured 55m by 40m in a simple rectangular layout. It was at least two meters deep. The site has only been partially excavated. Nakazawajō became a satellite fortification of nearby Kuritajō.
Field Notes
