Hiratsuka Castle was the main fortification of the Toshima clan for many generations until they built Shakujii Castle in 1477 during conflicts with Ota Dokan. The castle was captured by Ota Dokan in 1478. Historical excavations have uncovered many artifacts supporting this long history.
