History

Motojuku-jin'ya, constructed in 1696, was the seat of Shibata Katsukado who served the Tokugawa regime as a bugyō (magistrate). This tenryō (a domain controlled directly by the Shogunate through deputies) was valued at over 3,000 koku. Motojuku-jin'ya was used througout the Edo period, and, after the abolition of feudalism, the main residence hall was used and preserved by the Tomita family.

There's something to me which seems wholly inappropriate about them not serving Japanese cuisine here!
