Komurojō: Relocated Gate in Kitanogō (Kitanogō, Nagahama, Shiga) 小室城移築門 [滋賀県長浜市北ノ郷町]

There is a private residence in Kitanogō Township, Nagahama Township, said to be in possession of a relocated gate from Komurojō in nearby Komuro Township. The small gatehouse is located beside the village's main road and therefore can be viewed from outside the residence. On the other side of the road I noticed a waterway busy with plant life; it's a pretty village.

As well as not being a temple gate like the other relocated gates from Komurojō, the Kitanogō gate is also constructed differently, bearing the hallmarks of a residential entrance. One wonders to what extent their respective institutions modified these gates over the centuries (Komurojō was decommissioned in 1788). This gate features a prominent kamon (family crest) sculpted into the plaster panelling.
