Meirinkan. The highlight of this set is surely the Merinkan so don't go away without viewing this. The Meirinkan was another name of the Hanko, or, Domain School, setup by the Choshu Domain. The big building you see today called Meirinkan is actually from the Meiji Period so you'll see no photos on this site, but there are some original structures from the Edo Period: Yubikan (hall for practicing martial arts), the South Gate and the Kantokumon Gate.

Tokoji Temple This was my very first stop in Hagi over the weekend and the rainy early morning lent a certain atmosphere to the site. The graves of X lords of the Choshu Domain may be found here.

Kosatsu This is a reconstructed kosatsu or location where domain and bakufu decrees were posted for all to see. Along the ground we can also see some markings of the original walls of a moat that went past here.
