A word of warning: Shingū's local falcon population has turned into a flock of urban pests. They now use their sharp talons to swoop down on unsuspecting tourists to snatch food out of their hands. I'd never seen anything like it. I lost a tart to one when I was lunching in the garden of the Xú Fú temple. The raptor had unseen sat and patiently watched me eat a citrus fruit, that not taking its fancy, but immediately went for the baked confection....)
