07:06, 31 August 2025 ART talk contribs posted a new comment on Yamato Koriyama Castle (This summer I returned to Yamato-Kôriyamajō; my first visit was almost a decade ago, so I had some catching up to do. The castle ruins have seen some changes since my last visit. Various parts which were inaccessible during my first visit have been cleaned and opened up. These include a large bailey where the castle's stables were located, and the tenshudai (platform for donjon). A bridge, the gokurakubashi, has been reconstructed.)

Tamaru is a small town dominated by the castle-mount and surrounded by rice paddies which were illuminated gold during my most recent summer visit to this site. The ishigaki (stone-piled ramparts) at this castle ruin are fantastic and a major reason to visit. This was my second visit to the site, and this time I located the survivng palace hall in the castle'...)

I suppose it's too much to hope for that they're planning to reconstruct the gate!)

It was a clear summer day and I had the site mostly to myself. The size of it is quite impressive and it’s easy to imagine that many thousands of soldiers could have been housed here. I’m pleased to have had the opportunity to explore this historic site.)

13:37, 30 June 2025 ART talk contribs posted a new comment on Narumi Castle (Narumijō is a hirayamajiro (hilltop-and-plain castle) ruin in the Narumi community (it seems Narumi was once a larger township) of Midori Ward, Nagoya Municipality. The site is now mostly developed over, with the hilltop area maintained as a park, and a stele monument and signboard to be found at Narumi-jinja. Ruins are difficult to identify if indeed there are any. To the rear of the flattened hilltop there is a wide depression which could've been used as a moat. I found some linear mounds,...)
