History
Although the castle’s founding date is unknown, it is said to have been built by the Kamitōno Clan. The clan claimed they were descendants of vassals who served the Imperial court in the Kamakura period. Although the castle was abandoned at the beginning of the Edo period, part of the citadel was used as a Jin’ya for the Tanakura fief for a while after.
