The Takahashi Residence is now more commonly known as the Shiraito Machinami Kouryukan or Shiraito Machinami Civic Center. They also provide tourism information. The house is an original samurai home. According to the last owners it was rebuilt in the Meiji Period, but studies of the house show it may actually be older. This could also be the case if they reused materials from the original house when it was rebuilt. Regardless, it is still a good example of a samurai home in Kanegasaki.
