History

Ohdori Castle was likely built during the unrest of the 15th C. Ota Dokan used the site as an encampment at one point and the Hojo launched their attacks against Matsuyama Castle from here. Afterwards the castle was abandoned until Maeda Toshiie made use of it as his base when he launched attacks against the Hojo at Matsuyama Castle. Never leave a good castle behind for your enemies to use against you ! The castle was abandoned in 1590 after the Siege of Odawara.
