The fortified manor house of the "Demon Bear Clan (Onikuma-shi)" sits on a plateau overlooking a river. The site is now on private property, but I had a look from below. The advantage of the terrain is obvious enough but I found no ruins of the yakata.

History

Onikuma-yakata was the fortified manor hall of the Onikuma Clan. The Onikuma Clan served the Aoyagi Clan, and they manned the nearby fort of Nishijōjō, which, along with Higashijōjō, protected Aoyagi territory in the valley which runs between the Chikuma and Sarashina districts.
