Ogawa Castle (Omi)

History
Ogawajō measured 80m east-west and 150m north-south. Ogawa Suketada, a vassal of the Rokkaku Clan, was castellan of Ogawajō in September 1571 when Oda Nobunaga invaded. Sakuma Nobumori assaulted Ogawajō and neighbouring Shimurajō. Lord Ogawa sent out seven hostages to beg Oda Nobunaga for forgiveness. Surprisingly it worked and, although Ogawajō was burnt down, Ogawa Suketada would go onto to serve Oda Nobunaga as a general, eventually attaining territory of 70,000 koku as the lord of Imabari Domain. He fought at Sekigahara for the Western Army, fielding 2,000 warriors.
