  • The top is the main bailey, seen from the northernmost point of the obi-kuruwa running around its base. The sides of the mountain have been dug away to increase the angle, making it more difficult to climb.

  • huge horikiri, a trench separating the castle from the mountain approach to the north.
  • Edge of the main compound, with the sharp drop formed by hand carving the mountain side. The resulting obi-kuruwa can be seen to the left below.

  • The narrow obi-kuruwa around the base of the main compound above to the right. To the left is another steep drop.

  • The right side about 10x15m is raised about a meter higher than the rest of the main enclosure, and was said to have been the position of the keep-like yagura turret.
