Background

The Takigai Residence is the only remaining residence of the Nakayabu-gumi of ashigaru who were known as the rifle squad of Hikone. This home has a storehouse dating to the Edo Period that is also a designated historic building. This residence is occasionally open during special occasions too but I have not seen it on either of my visits.
