Yadahime-yashiki, a fortified residence site, is now only fields. Modern housing encroaches.
History
Yadahime-yashiki was the residence of Lady Yada from 1564 to 1603. Yada-hime was the wife of Nagasawa Ietada, the eighth generation head of the Nagasawa-Matsudaira. Lord Nagasawa was one of sixteen so-called divine generals of Tokugawa Ieyasu, and Yada-hime was Ieyasu’s half-sister. The yashiki may be considered as part of a complex of fortified residences in Nagasawa Valley. It was situated beneath the hillside fort of Daikakujijō, just west of the main residence of Nagasawa Castle.
