Iwazu Myoshinji Castle
Iwazu-Myōshinjijō is one of several fortification sites in the wider complex of fortifications beneath Iwazu Castle. Iwazu-Myoshinjijō is now the site of a temple, Enpukuji; no ruins remain. Enpukuji is a nice temple and features large trees which are landmarks for the neighbourhood.
History
Iwazu-Myōshinjijō was constructed in 1426 as a satellite fortification of Iwazujō by Matsudaira Nobumitsu. In 1461 the fort(ified residence) was concerted into a temple, Myōshinji, by Nobumitsu to pray for his wife and child who had died. For more info' see Iwazu Castle.
