Saijozan Jinba
Saijozan-jinba is a hilltop jinba (fortified encampment) site overlooking Iwano village in Matsushiro Township, Nagano Municipality. It was famoulsy the battle camp of Uesugi Kenshin during the fourth battle of Kawanakajima in 1561. Atop the hill there is a look-out platform with an information boar
History
According to folklore, the mount is named 'Saijozan' because Uesugi Kenshin weeped in longing for his mistress whilst encamped. The encampment probably was referred to by another appellation at the time, and was probably named something like 'Uesugi Main Camp', but in any case it seems that the name 'Saijozan' predates the battle.
