History
Mizukami-Mondo-yashiki was the fortified residence of Mizukami Mondo in the late Sengoku period. The Mizukami were originally vassals of the Ogasawara Clan of Shinano. Following the Honnōji incident in 1582, Mizukami Mondo supported the Tokugawa in their war with the Hōjō for control over Kai Province. The yashiki was surrounded by a series of forts which may have also served as residences of retainers or as temples.

The site is now developed over with housing and fields, but castle bloggers have remarked upon the narrow, crank-shaped layout of the roads in the area which suggest a fortified village. The residence itself measured about 50m on each side.
