Miyashita-yakata, also called Nakagoe-kyokan, is a fortified manor hall site in the Nakagoe neighbourhood of Nagano downtown. No ruins remain, and the site is now Kita-Nagano Station on the Kita-Shinano Line. This was the residence site of the Miyashita Clan who built several fortifications nearby,

History

Miyashita-yakata was the fortified manor hall of the Miyashita Clan. It would seem that when the Miyashita Clan built Higashi-Wadajō in 1473, that castle became their main residence. The Miyashita Clan became vassals of the Murakami Clan in the early 16th century. When Murakami Yoshikiyo was defeated by Takeda Shingen in 1553, the Miyashita Clan abandoned Wadajō and returned to their former manor hall, no longer as lords, but as peaceful farmers.

Field Notes

Miyashita-yakata, also called Nakagoe-kyokan, is a fortified manor hall site in the Nakagoe neighbourhood of Nagano downtown. No ruins remain, and the site is now Kita-Nagano Station on the Kita-Shinano Line. This was the residence site of the Miyashita Clan who built several fortifications nearby, so I visited for the sake of completion, having been to those sites too, but there's really nothing to see. I took a picture of the railway tracks.
