Ôinojō is a medieval fortified residence site in Ôino Township, Okazaki Municipality; the neighbourhood is called Shimoyashiki, likely a reference to a castellan's residence. I was unable to ascertain what ruins remain as access to the site was restricted. I could make out a small knoll with a stone

History
The Mikawa-Shibata Clan was founded when the third son of Ogasawara Masayasu, Tomomasa, inherited the Shibata Manor in Nukata County. Tomomasa's son, Masanari, became lord of Ôhirajō, and, in turn, Masanari's son, Masahide, became lord of Ôinojō. Masahide's younger brother was Masatada. Masatada's grandson was Shibata Yasutada, who served Tokugawa Ieyasu. The Mikawa-Shibata patriarchs typically took the nom-de-guerre 'Sakyō' which was past down from father to son.
In 1555, Ôinojō was conquered by Okudaira Kyūbē, the castellan of nearby Hijikajō under Oda Nobuhide. Ôinojō's lord was killed in battle, but Matsudaira forces were able to reclaim the castle the following day.
