History
Field Notes
Kaminoyamajō is a satellite fortification of Noguchijō, sitting above it at the hill's peak. This rudimentary fort appears to have been chiefly used as a look-out. The hilltop is flattened in places but there's not much in terms of ruins, except some deformed dorui (earthen ramparts) around the bailey. There is also the suggestion of a shallow trench along the ridge between this site and Noguchijō proper.
I sometimes note particular plants or animals on my castle visits. What is memorable to me about this site is the strangest of flora littering the ridge up to the hilltop, and indeed also the fort's main bailey area. These curious spherical fungi appeared in all sorts of colours, including yellow, white, light green, cyan and pink. There were, in fact, thousands and thousands of golfballs littering the forest floor here.
