History

Gyoichiyama Fort was at the peak of Mt. Gyoichi. Even though it plays an important role in the Battle of Shizugatake, it is a very small single Bailey and probably the least interesting of the sites on the mountain range. A long (3.5km) rugged trail goes direct to Genbao Castle. Sakuma Morimada, Maeda Toshiie and their troops left for the key battle form here in the early morning of April 20th.

See Battle of Shizugatake for more details.
