History

The Aoyama-yashiki was built on a slight terrace in a small valley by the Aoyama Clan in 1468. It was the fortified residence of Aoyama Tadayoshi. The yashiki may have later been replaced by nearby Jinnoyajō as the Aoyama’s main base in the early 16th century.
