History

Shirakura was a minor lord in the Musashi region who fled before the pressure of the Hojo to join forces with Nagao Kagetora (Uesugi Kenshin). As Takeda Shingen grew in strength and took over the region Shirakura joined with the Takeda. As the Takeda weakened, Shirakura allied with the Hojo. During the Siege of Odawara, Shirakura Shigeie holed up in Odawara Castle leaving Asaba Castle to his younger brother Shigetaka. Shigetaka surrendered to the huge combined forces of Maeda Toshiie and Uesugi Kagekatsu in 1590.
