Description | The thick yellow wall is called the Aburakabe or "oil wall". It is a tsuijibei type wall. There are some conflicting theories about when, why and how it was built but it is still an anomaly. Tsuijibei walls are very strong but also very time consuming and labor intensive to build. It doesn't make sense to build one in this location of the castle. The gate to the right is the Ho Gate from the previous picture and the gate to the left is the Mizu Ichi Gate. |
