Field Notes

Hajōdokojō is a former castle site located in Hajōdo Township, Kariya Municipality. Little to no ruins remain, and the site is now that of a temple, Gangyōji. An explanation board about the fortification can be found at the temple.

This site is often confused with the nearby site of Hajōdojō; Hajōdokojō is an earlier iteration of that fort situated to the east of it. Indeed, the entry for this site on the castle blog 'Umoreta Kojō' says that the sign for the castle is now gone, but that blogger appears to have visited the site of Hajōdojō, now the temple Shōhōji, where there is no signboard (but there are earthworks ruins there).
