History
Ibo-jin'ya was established in 1681 by Honda Tadaharu to administer his holdings of 10,000 koku. Ibo-jin'ya was built a little to the north of an earlier site called Ibojō, used from 1600 to 1638. Before Ibojō there were Sengoku period twin castles Ibonishijō and Ibohigashijō. Even before that there was a medieval residence site called Ibojō, now referred to as Ibokojō ('Old Ibo Castle'). That makes Ibo-jin'ya the fourth reiteration of a castle-like site at Ibo based on (re)location alone (the Sengoku period sites were likely rebuilt multiple times). It was also the last.
In 1705, Honda Tadaharu's fief was increased by 7,000 koku. In 1710 he was relocated to Sagara Domain, and Ibo-jin'ya was decommissioned, bringing the history of fortifications in Ibo to a close.
