History

Kōno-yashiki was a compound of the Kuramae-shū, an armed group under the Takeda Clan. Later the residence housed the Kōno Clan, vassals of the Tsuchiya Clan who in turn served the Takeda Clan as chief vassals. This is where the site's name derives.
